About the Gallery
The late Veloy Vigil remains a world renowned artist whose quiet nature and meticulous hand relay in his many works. Respected as a master printmaker, sculptor, and colorist; Veloy captured the nature of Native American culture with his carefully planned compositions and decisive brushstrokes. His rich earthy colors entice every viewer with stories from the past, and promises of the future.
Father to two sons and two daughters, Veloy and his wife Elena encouraged the children to express themselves artistically, frequently visiting museums and art galleries as they grew up. Both boys worked alongside Veloy, learning his studio practice and in 1983 the family opened Gallery Elena in Taos, New Mexico.
Currently the Vigil children continue to carry on their father's legacy with Veloy Vigil Fine Arts, where his sons, Michael and Dan Vigil display their work alongside Veloy's grandson Corbin Ferguson.
